You are cordially invited to participate in our 2010 Read Up! Walk-a-Mile for Literacy event being held Saturday, September 18th between 9:30 and 12 noon in downtown Grass Valley. Our free program provides volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with English-speaking adults who seek to improve their reading, writing, speaking and math skills. Whether you walk solo, or with a spouse, friend, child, or your dog (no charge), it will be an opportunity to expand your knowledge of literacy, and to help fund the purchase of workbooks for our students. Our program is always free to them. Help us help them open a new world. Registration form

The evening promises to bring history alive through a very personal account of resilience and sacrifice. New Online Resource for Job Seekers Whether you’re looking for a new career, job hunting, interviewing, networking, or sharpening your business writing skills, LearningExpress Job & Career Accelerator provides the tools and the information. Use this interactive wizard for creating professional resumes and cover letters, discovering career recommendations, and accessing the database of over 5 million up-to-date job listings. It’s accessible 24/7 from the Internet—even when the library’s closed. Job postings are aggregated from leading job boards, classified ads, and other web sites. The software saves your profile and preferences and allows you to hone in on targeted job listings and locations. The Library received access to this new resource by being a member of the NorthNet Library System, a consortium of libraries in Northern California. Funding was provided for the program for all 56 member libraries through a Federal grant from the California State Library and the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
The Library Community Room is available for rental by area organizations. CLICK HERE for information, an online availability calendar and request form.
Open to All:What the Library Means to Me
