DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT (EA) FOR THE PROPERTY ACQUISITION PROJECT
AT NEVADA COUNTY AIRPORT, GRASS VALLEY, CALIFORNIA

The County of Nevada California has prepared a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed acquisition
of approximately 44 acres of undeveloped property located adjacent to the northern property boundary of Nevada
County Airport, as well as a 4-acre easement to provide access between the property and Idaho-Maryland Road. The
Draft EA is available for public review during the 34-day period from Thursday, October 11, 2012, through 4:00 p.m.
on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. The County of Nevada is currently seeking public comments on this EA.

The County proposes to acquire the proposed property to ensure compatible land use and to provide a buffer
between the airport and other land uses. No airport development is proposed. This notification is pursuant to the
National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), the Council on Environmental Quality Regulations for
Implementing the Procedural Provisions of NEPA, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations
implementing NEPA. The County of Nevada will provide the Final EA to the FAA for its use in considering federal
actions associated with the County's proposed property acquisition.
