Nevada County's history with medical cannabis starts in 1996 with the passage of the Compassionate Use Act for medical cannabis. Most recently, in the 2016 November election, Proposition 64 was passed in California allowing indoor grow for non-medical cannabis. The Cannabis Regulation Community Advisory Group (CAG) was formed by the Board of Supervisors to advise the Board on the development of a permanent Cannabis Ordinance for Nevada County. This inclusive process will take into account the input of all community stakeholders. Nevada County has contracted MIG as a consultant during this process. MIG will provide facilitation services for the Cannabis Regulation Community Advisory Group to ensure a fair and equitable process while advising and drafting a new Cannabis Ordinance.

Applications for the Community Advisory Group were received from April 18 - May 2. Applications closed at 5:00PM on May 2, 2017. With a strong number of applications received, MIG reviewed applications extensively to provide a knowledgeable recommendation to the Board.
