Nevada County administers a door-to-door paratransit service for persons with disabilities for trips within the Grass Valley/Nevada City area and nearby communities. The service is provided by Gold Country LIFT, a private non-profit organization, under a contract with the County of Nevada. All paratransit vehicles are accessible and are equipped with wheelchair lifts.
The paratransit service area
includes the ADA corridor (Americans with Disabilities Act) which is 3/4 of a mile on either side of Gold Country Stage fixed routes. This includes Grass Valley, Nevada City, Penn Valley, Lake Wildwood, Rough and Ready and other local areas. Service to a defined outlying srvice area is scheduled as resources allow.
Pursuant to the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), paratransit service is provided to ADA eligible persons who cannot access the Gold Country Stage fixed route bus service. In order to become eligible for paratransit service, you must submit a Request for ADA Application
eligibility. (Click title to download.) The application form must be filled out completely and sent to the Transit Services Division at 950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City, California, 95959 for paratransit eligibility approval. Once approved, an eligibility letter and card will be sent to the applicant.
Days and Hours of Service:
Paratransit service is provided Monday through Friday between 6:30am and 8:00pm and Saturday 7:30am to 5:00 pm. Currently there is no evening service. No service is provided on the following holidays:
The basic fare for paratansit service is $3.00 per one-way trip. For longer trips to and from outlying areas, the fare is $5.00. The Gold Country LIFT dispatcher will let you know what the fare is for your trip at the time you make your reservation. Please contact Gold Country Lift for all current fares.
Reservations for paratransit trips must be made at least one day in advance before the requested ride or up to several days in advance at 271-7433 (RIDE). You will be asked to make a reservation for the return trip at the same time you make your original reservation
