Airport Scheduled to Reopen on Monday the 21st as Planned
The Nevada County Airport will reopen for daylight operations on Monday the 21st as planned.  The runway repaving part of the project is complete. A photo of the runway can be found here. The second part of the project, the drainage and erosion improvement, will continue for another 6 to 8 weeks.  That work will require the runway to be closed Monday through Friday, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., due to the proximity to the runway and taxiway.  The night work on the erosion and drainage project will not impede CalFire operations scheduled to begin mid June.
2012 CDBG Application
The State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) redesigned the Notice of Funding Availability process for the 2012 CDBG funding cycle.  These NOFA changes required overall CDBG regulation amendments that affected the application evaluation process, funding limits, and program/project operational guidelines.  The most noticeable change to non-entitled jurisdictions was the CDBG application process.  HCD announced on Monday, May 14th, that they are experiencing complications with the Federal Office of Administrative Law (OAL) approving the recent CDBG regulation amendments.  HCD is currently working with OAL to obtain approval of the new regulations and ensure that the 2012 CDBG awards are compliant.  This will cause delays in rating and ranking the 2012 CDBG applications and ultimately delay the 2012 award announcements.  It is anticipated that award notifications will be released toward the end of summer or later.  If the regulation changes cannot be completed, the 2012 NOFA could be canceled based on the new regulations being out of compliance which would invalidate the 2012 CDBG Super NOFA.
