High School Diploma or GED Programs
Nevada Union Adult School exists to help adults in our county reach their educational and personal goals. We want to equip our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be more effective citizens, workers, and parents. Our programs are all designed to help adult learners achieve a better quality of life and enrich our community.
Career Online High School
The COHS program can be accessed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, via the internet, so students can work at their own pace and when it is convenient for them. Students will be given up to 18 months to complete the program.
Students are paired with an academic coach to whom they can reach out as frequently as they would like. The coaches are available via phone or email. They offer ongoing guidance and connect the student with the resources needed to master the courses. Nevada County Library staff members are also available to help students overcome obstacles they may have in participating in the program.
Community College and Vocational Education Programs
The Sierra College-Nevada County Campus offers excellent educational opportunities in a breath-taking setting. Course work at the Nevada County Campus is available in most degree and certificate areas, with some exceptions. The campus is also home to Ghidotti Early College High School, which bridges the divide between high school and college. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Sierra College
offers non-credit tuition-free short courses for adults with inquiring minds. Many of the courses are on campus.

CCA is Nevada County’s newest Technology Training Center. We have a lineup of beginner’s classes
to help you get a sense of a range of option that exist in the technology industry. Don’t let the seemingly foreign-sounding terms scare you – our instructors and online content will try to de-mystify the jargon and help you understand the opportunities and demands of every type of work. There are all kinds of “regular” people from all walks of life and all ages that are retraining in the tech field and finding decent paying, stable careers to support themselves and their families, often from rural areas such as Nevada County.
