What we do

Nevada County Public Health offers childhood and adult immunizations, including seasonal flu shots, at our main office in Grass Valley during our regular vaccine clinic hours and during our special vaccine clinics out in the community (see below for more detail). Most vaccines that we can offer for children are for kids eligible for Medi-Cal, without health insurance, Native American or Alaska Native, or who has insurane that doesn't cover vaccines.

Questions about vaccines and immunizations?

The laws in California recently changed for school-age kids and vaccines. For more information about SB277 and current immunization laws, please read this FAQ and this information from the California Department of Public Health

If you are a parent with questions about immunizations for your child, we encourage you to read this handout on vaccine safety.

Back-to-School Immunization Events!

Nevada County Public Health is proud to offer vaccines to our community as part of Nevada County's Back-to-School season. These vaccines are offered as part of the "Vaccines for Children" program, or VFC. The VFC Program is for children 18 years and younger, who are uninsured, or have Medi-Cal or Medi-Cal Managed Care, or whose insurance does not cover vaccines, or is Native American or Alaskan Native. A fee of $10 per vaccine is charged for VFC eligible vaccines. A limited number of vaccines are available for private pay. A sliding fee scale may apply to those who qualify. For information on when and where to find our Back-to-School clinics, please look at our Vaccines for Children flyer! Remember: you must bring your child's immunization records with you.

On-Going Vaccine and Immunization Clinics

We offer immunization clinics on a regular basis. For more information about immunization clinics offered at the main Public Health offices, please see our Main Immunization Schedule.

These vaccines are offered as part of the "Vaccines for Children" program, or VFC. These vaccines are covered by Medi-Cal, otherwise they are sliding-scale or require a $10 co-pay. A limited number of vaccines are available for private pay. Remember: you must bring your child's immunization records with you.
