Sheriff Services Description:
Sheriff’s Services provide all the duties of Sheriff, Coroner and Public Administrator.
 
The Undersheriff oversees the Administrative Captain, the Operations Captain, the Corrections Captain, and the Chief Fiscal Officer.
 
Our Administrative Support Division provides support services to the Sheriff’s Office.  The Administrative Captain manages the following units:  Communications/Dispatch, Records, Evidence, Civil, and Personnel/Training.  The Chief Fiscal Officer manages the Financial Unit, overseeing Contract Management, Grant Funding, Budget Development, and Reporting along with Public Administration responsibilities.
 
The Operations Captain oversees the following units: Patrol, Coroner, Major Crimes Unit, Narcotics Unit, Search and Rescue, Animal Control and the Volunteer Program.
 
The Corrections Captain oversees three detention facilities, the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility, the Truckee Jail and the Nevada City Court Holding Facility; manages home detention, educational opportunities, work release, vocational classes, substance abuse prevention, education and recovery, and religious and spiritual involvement, as well as the use of suitable Inmate Workers to assist non-profit and government organizations in the communications.
