WELCOME to the site of the Nevada County Treasurer & Tax Collector.

The Nevada County Treasurer & Tax Collector is responsible for the billing and collecting of property taxes and for receiving, investing and most importantly, safeguarding county taxpayer funds.

In Nevada County, the functions of County Treasurer and County Tax Collector are combined into the Office of the Treasurer & Tax Collector, a public official elected by the citizens of the County.

The Nevada County Treasurer is a State-mandated function that is governed by the Government Code.  The Treasurer acts as a bank and investment firm receiving, investing and safeguarding all money belonging to the schools, special districts and County Departments.  These entities draw upon these funds to pay for their budgeted expenses.  The Treasury staff is responsible for approximately $400M in funds that flow through the Treasury each year and safeguards an investment portfolio that tops $200M.

The Nevada County Tax Collector is responsible for billing and collecting the Secured, Unsecured, and Supplemental taxes and the collection of the  Transient Occupancy Tax.  Approximately 60,000 Secured bills, 5,000 unsecured bills and 2,500 Supplemental bills are processed through this office each year.  Tax Collection staff provides processing expertise; information and assistance to individual taxpayers and mortgage professionals; and oversees tax defaulted or delinquent tax payments, selling delinquent property under the approval of the Board of Supervisors.
