MORE ABOUT THE NEVADA COUNTY METH ACTION TEAM
Nevada County has established a youth-led coalition of youth and adult stakeholders to initiate a community response to Methamphetamine issues in Nevada County.
Nevada County Meth Action Team (UNZIP) is run under the Friday Night Live (FNL) and The Coalition For A Drug Free Nevada County.
We are one of the ten counties selected by the State of California to organize a youth-based task force to address methamphetamine in our county.
Our goal is to change community norms, policies, and or laws using policy and media strategies. This will include the use of data, community organization, policy and media advocacy and most of all, the enforcement to bring about long-lasting changes.
The task force is made up of 60% youth, ages 16-25 who are working with adult supervisors. If you are interested in joining we are still looking for adult members and some youth, please call 470-2466.
What in the name? UNZIP means exactly that, unzip. (One of the many names of meth is zip.) Our main goal is to do something about the problem of meth. So through the community effort we will be able to UNZIP the County of Nevada.
