In 2007-2008 Nevada County Behavioral Health/Friday Night Live, through funding from California State Drug and Alcohol programs, was one of ten counties which received a grant to establish a youth based community response to methamphetamine issues in Nevada County.
Our goal was to change community norms, policies, and/or laws using policy and media strategies.
The task force was made up of 60% youth, ages 16-25, working with adult allies.
Why the name, UNZIP? One of the many slang names for meth is zip. Our main goal was to address the meth problem with the goal to create a community effort to UNZIP the County of Nevada.

This ongoing website is a response to a need for access to reliable information about methamphetamine and resources for prevention and help.
