Tahoe Donner Trails Plan

5-Year Implementation Plan Approved

On September 14, 2016, the Nevada County Zoning Administrator adopted the project's environmental document (IS/MND) and conditionally approved the resource protection management plans for those portions of the Tahoe Donner Association (TDA) Trails Five-Year Implementation Plan (5-Year Implementation Plan) located within sensitive environmental areas, in the unincorporated area of Nevada County. Prior to commencing construction of the individual trail projects, TDA will need approval of the appropriate permits (e.g., grading permit, building permit, etc.) issued from the Nevada County Building Department. While the 5-Year Implementation Plan's environmental document evaluated potential impacts for the entire project; those trail projects that are located within the Town of Truckee will require a similar discretionary public process for entitlements to construct trail projects within the Town limits.

5-Year Implementation Plan Application Materials

The Tahoe Donner Association has submitted five management plans for protection of specific resources including significant cultural resources, floodplains, rare and endangered species and their habitat, steep slopes/high erosion control potential, and watercourses, wetlands and riperian areas, associated with their proposed trails five-year implementation plan. The proposed comprehensive trails plan identifies 22 specific projects that include necessary improvements and expansion of the Tahoe Donner trail system to provide a connected and sustainable network of trails available for a wide range of non-motorized users.
