Pay Your Tax Bill

WE ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGING TAXPAYERS TO UTILIZE OUR ONLINE PAYMENT SYSTEM, PAYMENT BY PHONE, DROP BOX OR US MAIL SERVICE DURING COVID-19. CURRENLTY ONLY CASH PAYMENTS ARE BEING ACCEPTED IN OFFICE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

COVID-19 Penalty Waivers


Due to the Governor's Order, penalty waivers associated with the COVID-19 pandemic are going to continue to be accepted. See the Penalty Waiver Process page for more information.
   

Pay Online


  • Click here to pay online with a credit card, debit card or E-Check.
  • There is a 2.38% convenience fee on all credit and debit card payments.
  • E-Check payments are free of charge.
  • Online payments made up until 11:59pm PST on December 10th and April 10th will be considered timely. 

Online Payment Instructions


  • Select the appropriate tax year.
  • Select the search criteria you wish to use (fee number, assessment number or physical address).
  • Enter the search criteria and click the "search" button.
  • Click on "view details" to view taxes and parcel information.
  • Click on "add 1st to cart" or "add 1st and 2nd to cart."
  • Click on "pay with E-Check" or "pay with credit/debit card" to begin checkout process.
  • Follow the process until you receive payment confirmation. 

Pay by Phone


  • Call 1-877-445-5617 to pay over the phone with a credit card, debit card or E-Check.
  • There is a 2.38% convenience fee on all credit and debit card payments.
  • E-Check payments are free of charge.
  • Phone payments made up until 11:59pm PST on December 10th and April 10th will be considered timely.

Pay in Office


  • Due to COVID-19, payments made in office are currently limited to cash only and require an appointment.
  • Appointments are available Monday - Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm (excluding holidays).
  • Call 530-265-1285 to schedule an appointment to make a cash payment.

Pay by Mail


  • Mail payments to: Nevada County Tax Collector, PO Box 128, Nevada City, CA 95959.
  • Please reference your assessment number(s) on your payment.
  • If possible, please include your installment stub(s) with your payment. 

Drop Box Payments


  • Drop off payments any time at: 950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City, CA 95959.
  • Drop box is located in the parking lot to the left of the building (follow signs).
  • Drop box is temporarily locked at 5:00pm on December 10th and April 10th.

Timely Payments


Credit card, debit card and E-Check payments (online or via phone) will be accepted until 11:59pm PST on December 10th and April 10th. Please allow yourself ample time for processing. Anything received after 11:59pm PST will be returned for penalties. 

Partial Payments


Payments must be made in full. Partial payments are not accepted

Payments from Multiple Sources


Payments made for taxes from multiple sources (check/credit card combination) must have prior authorization before proceeding. Please contact our office before making payments from multiple sources or payments will be voided and returned. Thank you for your cooperation.
