CalFresh Healthy Living Program

What We Do
The Nevada County Public Health Department supports the health of our community through programs that make the healthy choice the easy choice. That includes partnering with our community to change policy, systems and our built enviroment to support healthy choices, while also encouraging physical activity, healthy cooking classes, and other collaborations. Previously called NEOP, this program is now called CalFresh Healthy Living.

Healthy Living Classes

We partner with community organizations and schools to bring healthy living education to their clients and students.

Physical Activity

Learn more about physical activity opportunities from the Get Your Move On initiative.

CalFresh Healthy Living is proud to partner with local community members through nutrition and physical activity class offerings, Safe Routes to Schools efforts, Rethink Your Drink, food tastings, community gardens, health fairs and wellness policy support.

Screen-Free Week

Our program brings Screen-Free Week to Nevada County every year. We encourage you to join us to celebrate Screen-Free Week in April!

Rethink Your Drink

We share the Rethink Your Drink campaign to spread the word on healthy and delicious alternatives to sugary beverages. CA Department of Public Health cites studies showing that sugary drinks contribute to increased risk for certain chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Check out some great resources on sugar sweetened beverages, recipes and come to our Rethink Your Drink presentations!
