Nevada City Council voted to make all parks smoke-free on January 27 2010. Nevada City Council members voted four to one on an ordinance to ban smoking in Beryl Robinson Plaza, Calanan and Pioneer Parks, and all City-owned property including trails. Fines are $100 for a second violation in the same year, and $500 for additional violations in the same year. Read the article in The Union.
Congratulations to the Truckee-Donner Parks and Recreation Board for their unanimous vote March 12, 2009 to pass an ordinance making Regional, Meadow and River View Parks curb to curb smoke free in Truckee! They also included The Club House on the golf course and included a 150 foot smoke free area around it. All good news!
The Nevada County Youth Coalition has worked hard to create smoke-free parks in Nevada City, Truckee and Grass Valley.
