The Mental Health and Substance Use Advisory Board (MHSUAB) is comprised of consumers, family members and community members appointed by the Board of Supervisors to advise the Behavioral Health Department. The MHSUAB meets monthly with the Behavioral Health Director to provide advice, guidance and recommendations. The MHSUAB may discuss or review topics related to policy, procedures, target population, budget, staffing, program development, service needs, assessment and priorities. The MHSUAB may request presentations from programs or staff in specific areas of interest. An Annual Report from the MHSUAB is provided to the BOS highlighting progress and accomplishments.
Meetings
Meetings are open to the public and fall within the
Brown Act regulations.

Vision Statement
The Vision of the Nevada County Mental Health and Substance Use Advisory Board is to promote and support policies and programs that effectively improve the lives of persons with severe mental illness and/or substance use and improve community understanding.
Members of the public interested in serving on the Mental Health and Substance Use Advisory Board may complete and submit an application. Attendance of at least two meetings is required before applying. The applicant must also meet with and receive approval from the Mental Health Board Chair, Board of Supervisors Representative and Behavioral Health Director.
