North San Juan Town Hall Meeting Discussed Public Safety, Roads and Transit Services

On Thursday April 11, 2019 District IV Supervisor, Susan Hoek, held a Town Hall meeting in North San Juan at the Oak Tree Lodge. The event was well attended and included Sheriff Shannan Moon, Public Works Director Trisha Tillotson, and Transit Services Manager Robin VanValkenburgh. the goal of the meeting was to discuss important issues that include law enforcement, road maintenance, and transit services. The event had approximately 60 people in attendance. Supervisor Hoek welcomed everyone and spoke about the importance of engaging the community.

At the event, Sheriff Moon discussed strategies on increased law enforcement in the area, while acknowledging staffing and resource constraints. Public Works Director Trisha Tillotson provided a summary presentation on Public Works' role and responsibility of maintaining the County's roadways and infrastructure. She highlighted the work Public Works is doing throughout the County and encouraged residents to use the Ask Nevada County mobile app to report road and roadside related requests. She explained that members of the community simply need to download the app from Google Play or the iTunes store, take a picture of the issue, like a pothole in the road and submit the request. It is then directly routed to the County's road crew. To learn more about the Ask Nevada County app, go to www.mynevadacounty.com.
