Volunteer Training for FREE Green Waste Program May 9th

Volunteer Training May 9th

The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County & Nevada County Office of Emergency Services are looking for a few more volunteers to help us make Free Residential Green Waste Disposal possible. Help your neighbor achieve their defensible space by providing FREE green waste disposal. If you have 4 hours to gift on a Saturday or Sunday in May, please register online: The next volunteer training is Thursday, May 9th from 7:00pm-8:00pm in the Board Chambers of the Eric Rood Center, 950 Maidu Ave, Nevada City. 

Volunteers will help direct traffic, collect grant program documentation, answer questions, and screen green waste for acceptable materials. Please note, green waste haulers are responsible for transporting green waste into the bins provided at each site. No physical labor is required of volunteers.

Acceptable Items: Biomass consisting of all tree and plant trimmings, dead plants, weeds, leaves and branches. Unacceptable Items: Material with a diameter greater than 6 inches, tree stumps, root balls, pebbles, or rocks. Absolutely no household waste/trash will be accepted.
