Celebrate Safely: All Fireworks Banned Throughout Nevada County

With the 4th of July holiday around the corner, we ask that all Nevada County visitors and residents remember that all fireworks are illegal throughout Nevada County due to the high fire hazard.

Especially around 4th of July and during wildfire season, it is important to understand the dangers of fireworks.  Large grass crops and abundant vegetation, due to a wet winter, increase the threat for devastating wildfires throughout all of California. According to CAL FIRE, every year fires are caused by illegal and unsafe use of legal fireworks, endangering members of the public and first responders. Those responsible for starting fires due to illegal use of fireworks can be held financially and criminally responsible.

California has a zero-tolerance policy toward illegal fireworks. Celebrate the 4th of July holiday safely with parades and firework shows in Grass Valley and Truckee. CAL FIRE, along with local authorities will be working together to ensure a safe 4th of July holiday.

Celebrate in Grass Valley:

In Grass Valley, the downtown parade starts at 11:00 a.m. Following the parade, there will be live music, entertainment, craft fair, bounce houses, face-painters, balloons, food and refreshments at the Nevada County Fairgrounds before the fireworks spectacular blasts off at 9:30 p.m.

Celebrate in Truckee:

In Truckee, the downtown parade is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is themed the 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad in Truckee. A fireworks show starts at 9:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. on Donner Lake, with games and music throughout the day at West End Beach on Donner Lake.
