Proposed Gold Country Stage Bus Service Fare Policy Changes

On Wednesday, November 20th, at 8:30 a.m. at the Board of Supervisors Chambers in the Eric Rood Government Center, 950 Maidu Ave., Nevada City, California, the Transit Services Commission (TSC) for Western Nevada County will conduct a public hearing on proposed changes to Gold Country Stage fare policies.

The proposed changes are being considered in order to address a projected budget shortfall in Fiscal Year 2019/20, and subsequent years, to provide additional operational revenue, and provide adequate farebox revenue to satisfy the State Transportation Development Act (TDA) mandated ten percent farebox recovery ratio.  Proposed fare policy changes include increases in daily and monthly passes for Gold Country Stage fixed route zones 1 and 2. The proposed fare increases do not effect Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) paratransit services.

The Transit Services Commission is the governing body for transit services in western Nevada County pursuant to a joint powers agreement among the County of Nevada, Grass Valley and Nevada City.  If approved by the TSC, the changes in fare policies may be implemented on or about January 25, 2020, or at a future date selected by the TSC.  The hearing is intended to give the public an opportunity to comment to the TSC on the proposed modifications prior to final decisions being made.

A copy of the staff report outlining the proposed changes is on file and available for public review at the Nevada County Transit Services Division, 13081 John Bauer Avenue, Grass Valley and at the Eric Rood Government Center, Community Development Agency kiosk.

The report is also available on-line at www.goldcountrystage.com.
