The Human Resources Office administers a vibrant, made-to-order internship program designed to provide learning and experience opportunities for individuals in the community, high school and college students, and members of the military community. We solicit departmental needs and create unique internship opportunities covering a wide range of fields and interests. We encourage citizens to reach out to us to inform us of their areas of interest, and we attempt to match them to an internship opportunity. We strive to reach and teach! We attempt to ignite interest in public sector careers by providing meaningful internship experiences.
Hannah graduated from Smith College with a degree in Environmental Science and Policy and a deep interest in the intersections between local government and climate action. Hannah recently had the opportunity to apply her work and academic experience in municipal planning to multiple projects as the planning intern with the Nevada County Planning Department. This experience only fueled her passion for community planning, and she hopes to build off of it in the future with a position advocating for environmental and climate justice in community planning contexts.
While working remotely, Hannah’s responsibilities and accomplishments include attending weekly staff meetings, a few project specific public hearings, gaining familiarity of the County’s General Plan and Zoning Regulations, and learning about the variety of different project’s processed by the Planning Department. Her supervisor said the following regarding her internship: “Ms. Davis displayed a can-do attitude and provided a beneficial service to the Planning Department. Her work was timely and thorough. She asked thoughtful questions and her final work product was clear and easy to understand.”
