Saturday, October 27th, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, a free event hosted in collaboration with the DEA and many local community partners. Participate and drop off your unused prescriptions at participating locations in Truckee, Nevada City, Grass Valley, and Penn Valley.

Local Road Safety Plan Workshop, October 31st

In 2017, over 50% of fatalities occurred on rural roads, but just 19% of Americans live in rural areas.  Roads in rural areas may have design elements that increase the risk of fatalities or serious injuries, such as high speed limits, narrow lane widths and shoulders, steep ditches or trees close to the roadway.

A Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) offers a proactive approach for local agencies to address safety issues. An LRSP can show the public and policymakers that something is being done to systematically reduce severe crashes. Improving road safety is a benefit for everyone involved.

To find out more about Nevada County's Local Road Safety Plan and how you can help implement the LRSP, plan to attend a "Local Road Safety Plan Stakeholder Meeting" on October 31st from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the Eric Rood Administration Center in Nevada City.  If you plan to attend the LRSP stakeholder meeting on October 31st, please RSVP to nctc@nccn.net by October 26th.
