    The Commission provides policy advice to the Board of Supervisors; appraises and evaluates county health and human services programs; participates in long range planning processes; helps identify and coordinate community resources, including the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), that can be used to provide collaborative solutions to health and human services needs; oversees the extent and the quality of the participation of low income constituents in the CSBG funded programs; participates in activities of the Agency on Aging Area 4 (AAA4) Advisory Council; provides advice and recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on issues relating to Adult Day Services and Adult Day Health Care; provides assistance in educating the community on health and human services needs.

    Enjoy the story Home to Medicine Mountain, written by Chiori Santiago, illustrated by Judith Lowry, as you follow the map on a stroll through downtown Grass Valley. The story begins at the Grass Valley Library, where you can request a map of the StoryWalk route, and ends at the Bamboo Home Store. Book pages are posted in shop windows, and each page will direct you to the next participating business's display.

  2. Love-and-Kindness Art Contest

    Calling all inspiring young artists! Throughout the months of June and July, the Truckee Library will accept "love-and-kindness-themed" entries for an art contest. A prize will be awarded for the winner of each of the three age groups (preschool, elementary school, and tween/teen). All forms of art such as drawing, paintings, collages, etc. are acceptable. Participants can either mail entries to the library or leave them in the library book drop. Name, age group, and contact information should be included with each entry. Winners will be contacted by library staff in August. Entries will be displayed at the library, for all to see, once the library is open to the public again!

  3. Truckee Storywalk

    For a unique outdoor experience, families will get a chance to stroll along the Truckee Legacy Trail for a "Truckee Library Storywalk" from June 15 through August 13. This year, the event will be based on the book Also an Octopus by Maggie Tokuda-Hall. This delightful picture book will send imaginations soaring! The storywalk begins below the Truckee Regional Park and continues east for about 0.7 miles. Look for the laminated signs!
