    Enjoy the story Home to Medicine Mountain, written by Chiori Santiago, illustrated by Judith Lowry, as you follow the map on a stroll through downtown Grass Valley. The story begins at the Grass Valley Library, where you can request a map of the StoryWalk route, and ends at the Bamboo Home Store. Book pages are posted in shop windows, and each page will direct you to the next participating business's display.

    Pick up a bag full of magic and creativity each Thursday at the Grass Valley, Madelyn Helling, and Truckee Libraries. These Magic Bags will contain Henna, a powder used to create temporary tattoos. Learn about the cultural and historical significance of Henna while making your own designs at home. First come, first served, as there is a limited amount available each week.

    For this week's selection of the Nevada County Reads & Writes Film Series, we are watching After Earth. People were forced to leave Earth a millennium ago to establish a new home on Nova Prime.   1. Love-and-Kindness Art Contest

    July 9, 2020, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

    Calling all inspiring young artists! Throughout the months of June and July, the Truckee Library will accept "love-and-kindness-themed" entries for an art contest. A prize will be awarded for the winner of each of the three age groups (preschool, elementary school, and tween/teen). All forms of art such as drawing, paintings, collages, etc. are acceptable. Participants can either mail entries to the library or leave them in the library book drop. Name, age group, and contact information should be included with each entry. Winners will be contacted by library staff in August. Entries will be displayed at the library, for all to see, once the library is open to the public again!

  2. Truckee Storywalk

    For a unique outdoor experience, families will get a chance to stroll along the Truckee Legacy Trail for a "Truckee Library Storywalk" from June 15 through August 13. This year, the event will be based on the book Also an Octopus by Maggie Tokuda-Hall. This delightful picture book will send imaginations soaring! The storywalk begins below the Truckee Regional Park and continues east for about 0.7 miles. Look for the laminated signs!
