Dial 211 (www.dial211.Com) is a collaborative effort by Nevada County, First Five, the United Way of Nevada County, and Helpline. The Community Resource Directory is designed to provide information to community members as well as those outside of our community who may be looking for help for a family member.  
 
Information may be accessed through the Website www.dial211.com or by dialing 2-1-1 in Nevada County.  All services listed are either in Nevada County or provide services to Nevada County and/or Tahoe/Truckee region residents. Examples of services listed on www.dial211.com include the following: 
 

FOOD
 
Food Bank: Emergency food distribution, USDA commodities distribution, outreach for homebound, Project Hope and children. Providing a monthly distribution of nutritious food at four sites in the County: Penn Valley, North San Juan, Washington, and Grass Valley.
 
Project ManaEmergency food distribution, community gardening, nutrition education. Responding to the emergency food needs of individuals, families, and children in our region.
 
Interfaith Food Ministry:  Food distribution. Feeding families in need. Interfaith Food Ministry is a nonprofit public service corporation, dedicated to providing supplemental food to needy families each week in western Nevada County. Interfaith Food Ministry is completely manned by volunteers.
 
Native TANFProvides eligible members or descendants of Federally-recognized Indian Tribes or a descendant of the California Judgment Roll access to cash aid, emergency assistance, diversion, career development programs and youth and family service programs. 
 
Nevada County Eligibility Services Food Stamps (CalFresh): Emergency benefits for food purchase; also utility, medical coverage  and general financial assistance through various eligibility benefit programs such as CalWORKs, Medi-Cal, County Medical Services Program, General Assistance.
 
North Tahoe Family Resource CenterEmergency situation supplemental food, transportation, adult education, translation and advocacy and more.
 
Salvation ArmyEmergency food, shelter, homeless vouchers,  rental assistance, heating utility assistance.
 
Emergency Assistance Coalition: Provides assistance for those needing emergency food, shelter and/or transportation. Dial 2-1-1 in Nevada County for additional information. 
 
Red Cross (Eastern Region) and (Western Region)Disaster related emergency food, shelter, medical care, financial assistance, counseling.
 
 
HOUSING AND SHELTER
 
Hospitality HouseUtah’s Place serves homeless individuals and families in our community by providing a place to shower, do laundry, have meals and receive case housing management. Guests are invited to check in each day after completing the registration process (which includes showing proof of a negative TB test or signing up for testing at the center). Each day our guests must check in between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. for admittance to the shelter.
 
Emergency Assistance Coalition Provides assistance for those needing emergency food, shelter and/or transportation.  Dial 2-1-1 in Nevada County for additional information.
 
Salvation Army: Emergency shelter, homeless vouchers,  rental assistance, heating utility, food assistance.
 
Housing Guide:  The Nevada County Housing Guide is your resource for apartments and housing services.

Gold County Stage  The Gold Country Stage bus routes operate between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday - Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Gold Country Lift  Provides Paratransit Services in Western Nevada County.      
 
North Tahoe/Truckee Transport: Truckee Area - Priority given to those over 60 years of age.  Other residents may schedule on a space available basis.
 
Corporate Angel Network, Inc.: Flight Transportation for Cancer patients to treatment centers.
 
 
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT (Emergency Services Related)
 
Tahoe Safe Alliance (Formerly Tahoe Women's Services):  Safe shelter, accompaniment to area hospitals and court, emergency transportation, interpretation services for Spanish speakers, counseling, community education and more.
 
Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault CoalitionSafe housing, crisis counseling, accompaniment with legal, medical and social services, community education, and more.
 
Women of Worth (W.O.W.): Temporary shelter, food, household items, Christmas outreach, school supplies outreach.
 
South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center: Emergency Shelter, transitional Housing, accompaniment through legal and medical processes, advocacy, counseling, legal advice/representation and more.
 

MEDICAL SERVICES

Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital: Full service community Hospital in Western Nevada County.
 
Tahoe Forest Hospital: Full service community Hospital in Eastern Nevada County.

Ambulance Services: Call 9-1-1   

Western Sierra Medical Center: Low Cost community health clinic ages 3 and up.

Chapa De Indian Health Program:   Health clinic. Other services are dental, mental health and eye care. 

Sierra Family Medical Clinic, Inc.Family practice clinic in North San Juan Ridge area.

We Care Health ClinicDrop-in public clinic for the uninsured.
